Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu
  • Altitude: 1,350 meters

Feel the energy of Kathmandu, as you land at the Tribhuvan International Airport. A representative from Manaslu Circuit Treks will greet you and take you to your hotel. 

Get refreshed, relax or explore the city in your leisure time. We will discuss your Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek plans and preparations in the evening. We will take your passport and photos to obtain the trekking permits. 

 

Day 2 Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley
  • Altitude: 1,350 meters

Enjoy a day exploring the rich history and cultural tapestry of Kathmandu Valley. Our expert guide will take you on the Kathmandu city tour. Delve into world heritage sites like Hanuman Dhoka Square, a living museum adorned with palaces and temples. 

Visit the Swayambhunath which is known as Monkey Temple. It is a rich spiritual spot where prayer flags flutter against the backdrop of the city. This day sets the stage for your Manaslu trekking adventure.

Day 3 Drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola

Day 4 Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat

The trail to Jagat is lined with bamboo forests and waterfalls. Experience the peaceful and beautiful environment of the Manaslu Region. You’ll reach Jagat, a village known for its stone houses. We will rest there for the night.

 

Day 5 Trek from Jagat to Lokpa

Rise and shine, trekkers! Today’s section of Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek introduces you to the quieter Tsum Valley trails to Lokpa. As you walk, you will see some wooden bridges and the path unfolds the dramatic landscapes. The dense pine forests and towering cliffs will leave you in awe.

Lokpa is a valley in a remote region with majestic mountain scenery. You can observe a warm glow on the surrounding mountains during sunset. A tea house is where we will have our dinner and spend the night.

Day 6 Trek from Lokpa to Chumling

Further up in the Tsum Valley, today’s Manaslu Tsum Valley trek offers a mystical beauty. The trail from Lokpa to Chumling takes you through an adventurous way, which was once swept by the landslides. Walk through the lush forests and spot mesmerising flora and fauna of the region.

The warm smiles of the local people await to welcome you in the Chumling valley. Looking around the village, you will see many traditional houses made up of stones. The breathtaking views of Ganesh Himal makes it a perfect end to the day.   

 

Day 7 Trek from Chumling to Chhokang Paro

Good Himalayan morning, trekkers! Have a healthy breakfast for yet another day of the trek to the Himalayas. We will make our way crossing the small passes and dense forests. 

Nearing the destination, the valley opens up to reveal the expansive views of the surrounding peaks. Chhokang Paro is a village decorated with Tibetan-style prayer flags and flat-roofed houses. The night ends with a delightful dinner and a comfortable sleep. 

Day 8 Trek from Chhokang Paro to Nile
  • Altitude: 3,130 meters
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours
  • Trek Distance: 13 km

The journey today will lead from Chhokang Paro to the Nile, upper region of Nepal Tsum Valley. This portion of the trek is lined with chortens, mani walls and sacred markings, adding a spiritual vibe. Tsumbas people live around these regions and their religious practices heavily reflect Tibetan Buddhism. 

The Nile sits on the edge of the Tibetan borders, a remote and peaceful place. Interact with the local people and gain insights into their way of living.

 

Day 9 Rest day at Nile | Explore Mu Gompa and hike back to the Nile
  • Altitude: 3,700 meters
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours (round trip)

The first acclimation day of your Manaslu Tsum Valley trek. You can rest the whole day exploring the Nile village. Or you can be ready for a spiritual experience. 

You will explore the Mu Gompa, a sacred Buddhist monastery of the Tsum region. It sits on top of a hill at 3,700 meters altitude amidst towering peaks. The wind whistles continuously through the place.

Get insights into the spiritual practices that have been preserved for centuries. Enjoy the views from the top and capture it in your camera. You will also explore a nearby ancient monastery. Later, we will return to the Nile for the night.

Day 10 Trek from Nile to Chumling
  • Altitude: 2,386 meters
  • Trek Duration: 6-7 hours
  • Trek Distance: 18 km

You will retrace your steps back to Chumling, descending through the picturesque landscapes. This section of Manaslu Tsum Valley trek offers a different perspective on landscapes you’ve witnessed before. 

Traverse through lush forests and feast your eyes on the scenery of snow capped mountains. After reaching the Chumling village, engage with the friendly people and experience the local cultures. This day concludes the Tsum Valley trek route and a new chapter of the adventure begins tomorrow.   

Day 11 Trek from Chumling to Deng
  • Altitude: 1,860 meters
  • Trek Duration: 6-7 hours

Day 11 is the transition from Tsum Valley trek to Manaslu Circuit trek. We will make our way towards Deng. The trail to Deng offers a diverse ecology of Manaslu Region. You will experience that as you pass through dense forests and walk alongside the terraced fields.

Deng is a gurung village, sitting in the lap of Himalayan mountains. This village provides a restful night after a long day of walking.

Day 12 Trek from Deng to Namrung
  • Altitude: 2,630 meters
  • Trek Duration: 7 hours

Enjoy your breakfast and ascend through the dense forests that flourish rhododendrons and other wildflowers. Along the trail, your eyes will be captured by the majestic glimpse of Mt Manaslu and Ganesh Himal.

After crossing some small villages and wild rivers, we will reach Namrung village. This place is a perfect spot to interact and engage with the local people of Tibetan descendents. 

Day 13 Trek from Namrung to Shyala
  • Altitude: 3,500 meters
  • Trek Duration: 4-5 hours

Imagine a journey where peace and nature goes hand to hand. That’s what this section of Manaslu Tsum Valley trek offers. We will cross beautiful landscapes and witness views of the Ganesh Himal base camp.

We follow the path across the riverbank. After trekking through forests for a couple of hours, we will reach Shyala village. Soak in the peaceful environment and explore nearby nature spots.

Day 14 Trek from Shyala to Sama Gaun via Pungyen Gomopa
  • Altitude: 3,520 meters
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

This day of Manaslu Tsum Valley trekking offers a spiritual and scenic expedition. We will stop at an ancient monastery, Pungyen Gompa, from where you can look at the glaciers.

After passing the forests we will reach the Sama Goan village, close to the Tibet border. Surrounded by yak pastures, this village is a gateway to Manaslu expeditions. Recover your energy with a well deserved dinner and rest.

Day 15 Acclimatization day in Sama Gaun
  • Altitude: 3,520 meters

Sun’s up trekkers! But today, we will take a rest day at Sama Gaun. Explore the village and the Sama Gaun monastery. You can choose to rest at the village or venture on a hike to Manaslu Base Camp. 

On the way, you can visit the Birendra lake, named after the late king of Nepal. The round trip to the base camp Himalayas consumes 8 hours. The efforts to reach Manaslu BC is worth it, as it offers you a close view of Mount Manaslu.  

Day 16 Trek from Sama Gaun to Samdo
  • Altitude: 3,860 meters
  • Trek Duration: 3 hours

Our journey today resumes through the trail of Budhi Gandaki River. You will cross several bridges and pass terraced fields alongside mani walls. 

Samdo is a high-altitude village that offers the backdrop of the Tibetan Plateau. This dramatic view, along with friendly people makes this village a perfect stop during trekking to Manaslu Tsum Valley. 

Day 17 Hike to Dharamsala
  • Altitude: 4,460 meters
  • Trek Duration: 4 hours

The hike to Dharam Sala begins with an ascent to Larkya La Pass. We will pass through suspension bridges over the Budhi Gandaki River. Continuing on, you will observe the beautiful scenery of Larkya glaciers on the path. 

Dharamsala, also known as Larkya La Phedi, is the base camp of Larkya Pass. We will stop here, preparing to cross the High Pass, tomorrow.

Day 18 Trek to Bhimtang via Larkya La Pass
  • Altitude: 5,106 meters
  • Trek Duration: 8 hours

This day is the highlight of your Manaslu Tsum Valley trekking itinerary. Prepare to navigate one of the longest and highest passes in the world, Larkya La Pass. 

We have to start moving before dawn. Why? Because the high wind blows at the pass, making it harder to cross. So, we rise early and cross it before that happens.

This portion of the trek is challenging but opens up for the stunning views of the Himalayan peaks such as Annapurna II, Himlung Himal and others. After a rigorous trek, we will reach Bhimtang. 

 

Day 19 Trek from Bhimtang to Tilje
  • Altitude: 2,300 meters
  • Trek Duration: 7 hours

We are nearing the end of the Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley trek. We will walk on the varied landscapes, ascending and descending while on the path. You can explore the Gho village near the riverbank.

While nearing Tilje, you will hear bird songs and spot animals in the lush forest. Reach Tilje and soak in the atmosphere. Enjoy and share stories with fellow trekkers, as this will be your last night at Manaslu region. 

Day 20 Trek to Dharapani and Drive to Kathmandu via Besisahar
  • Altitude: 1,860 meters
  • Trek Duration: 2-3 hours

Day 20 marks the last day of Tsum Valley and Manaslu trek. We will reach Dharapani from Tilje within 2-3 hours of walking. 

After reaching Dharapani, take a relief as you will hop on a local Jeep to Besisahar. From Besisahar, ride on a private vehicle and enjoy a scenic drive across the flowing river to reach Kathmandu Valley. Along the road journey, reflect back on the adventure and challenges you overcame. 

Reaching KTM, you will be welcomed to the grand farewell dinner party to celebrate the completion of the trek. Rest comfortably at a 3-star hotel in ktm for the night.

Day 21 Departure from Kathmandu

The last day will definitely be bittersweet. Pack all your belongings for departure. Depending on your flight schedule, you can shop around in KTM for souvenirs. 

When it’s time, a staff from Manaslu Circuit Treks will pick you up from your hotel and drop you to the Kathmandu International Airport. As you head back to your country, a new chapter of your life awaits.
